I love miso and it goes well with fish, miso fish takes me back to Japan.

This time two years ago Martin and I were in Tokyo, on our first night Martin took me to a wonderful fish restaurant, despite the fact he doesn’t eat fish. I remember the night like it was yesterday, I had miso fish, Japanese beer and maybe a little too much rice wine. The fish was so tasty and it has taken two years to recreate a tasty rendition of it.

This miso fish dish is so easy, the hardest thing with this dish waiting for the fish to marinate.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup white miso paste
  • 1 tb mirin
  • 2 tsps soy sauce
  • 600 g firm white fish fillet (I used pink ling)
  • 2 tsps sesame seed oil
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tbsp sesame seed

Instructions

Keep screen awake
  • 1
Combine miso, mirin and soy sauce in a bowl. Add fish. Turn to coat. Place in the fridge for to marinate.
  • 2
Heat the fry pan with sesame seed oil, once the pan is hot add the fish and water, cook for three minutes and turn the fish and cook for further three minutes.
  • 3
Serve the fish with stir fried veggies or noddles and top with sesame seeds.
