Batata Harra is a great Middle Eastern potato dish with coriander, garlic and onion. It is often served a appetiser or a side.

We parboil the potatoes and then roast them, rather than frying them. They are so tasty, full of flavour and a bit different to your standard potato side.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg potato (2 cm cubed)
  • 3 tbsps olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic (Crushed with a pinch of salt)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • ½ tsp ground chilli
  • 4 tbsps fresh coriander (Chopped)
  • 1 tsp dried coriander seed
  • salt (to serve)
  • sumac (to serve)

    Parboil the potatoes for .

    Transfer potatoes to a roasting tray, cover in oil and sprinkle with coriander seed. Roast for at 180 degrees C, turning every .

    Meanwhile in a pan, sauté the onions until transparent, then add the garlic. Once cooked through stir in the coriander and sprinkle with chilli.

    Once potatoes are done, stir in with onion mixture, sprinkle with salt and sumac and serve.
