Take your tastebuds on an exotic trip with this authentic Asian beef dish.

Ingredients

  • 0.5 cups soy sauce
  • 0.25 cups mirin
  • 0.25 cups caster sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsps finely grated ginger
  • 1 garlic clove (thinly sliced)
  • 800 g beef rump steak
  • 1 tbsp alfa one rice bran oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • cooked sushi rice and thinly sliced green onion (to serve)

    Place soy sauce, mirin, sugar, honey, sesame oil, ginger and garlic in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer for . Remove from heat. Cool to room temperature.

    Drain beef, reserving marinade. Heat rice bran oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook steak for each side (for medium) or until cooked to your liking. Transfer steak to a plate. Cover loosely with foil. Set aside for to rest. Add reserved marinade to pan. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer, uncovered, for or until reduced slightly.
