Sweet and sour sauce, Just use your choice of prepared meats and veggies. (chicken wings, chicken chunks, meatballs or pork chunks 1 inch squares) meat does not have to be breaded just cut into bite size, pieces and lightly seasoned and saute until cooked through. Quick, simple and economical meal. This recipe for the sauce makes a little more than 1 quart of sweet and sour sauce, it keeps well in refrigerator.

Ingredients

  • 3 ⅓ c pineapple juice
  • 5 tbsps white vinegar
  • 3 tbsps soy sauce
  • 1 c packed brown sugar
  • 5 tbsps cornstarch
  • 1 c red and green bell peppers ½ inch wide slivers
  • 1 c carrots ½ inch slivers
  • 1 c sweet onions ½ inch slivers
  • 1 c pineapple chunks
  • 1 lb meat of choice

    Mix all ingredients together in a sauce pan, Turn stove on to medium, Bring sauce to a boil while stirring, Reduce heat and simmer for . Set aside until ready to use.

    I take my prepared cooked bite size pieces of meat, And raw bell peppers, onions and pineapple chunks. And sautee them to desired doneness and then pour some of the sweet and sour over them in the wok or saute pan. Once sauce is heated back up serve over steamed rice.
