The original recipe calls for added salt. For health 7 taste reasons, I've omitted that. For the same reasons I recommend using unsalted butter.

Ingredients

  • ½ c. butter (unsalted; softened)
  • ½ c. brown sugar
  • ½ c. molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ½ c. flour
  • 1 ½ tsps baking powder
  • 1 tsp ginger (ground)
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ⅓ c. water
  • ⅓ c. raisins
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease a 13x9x2-in. baking pan.

    Cream together butter & brown sugar till fluffy; then beat in molasses & egg.

    Mix together flour, baking powder, ginger, & baking soda.

    Starting with flour mixture, blend into butter-brown sugar in small batches, alternating with water.

    Stir raisins into batter.

    Spread batter into prepared pan & bake .

    Cool thoroughly; then sprinkle powdered sugar on top.

    Cunt into bars.
