Mix cornmeal, flour, garlic salt and pepper together and set aside, make sure and taste a little bit to check seasonings.
In a bowl mix egg, milk, garlic salt and pepper until blended, dump in fz okra, mix to coat.
dredge okra in flour mixture a couple of handfuls at a time, shake off excess with your hands and place on a plate, repeat until all is coated.

Put about 1/4 c canola oil in a large skillet, I use my electric on full blast. when it starts smoking sprinkle in okra evenly and fry until browned, turn over and brown the other side.
Remove to a paper towel lined plate. serve hot.
