Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter (unsalted; softened)
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg (separated)
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (ground)
  • ¾ c. walnuts (chopped)

Instructions

Keep screen awake

    Preheat oven to 350° F. Beat egg white slightly.

    Cream together butter & brown sugar; then beat in egg yolk & vanilla.

    Stir flour & cinnamon into sugar-egg mixture.

    Pat batter into ungreased 15 1/2x10 1/2x1-in. baking pan.

    Brush batter in pan with egg white.
  • 6
    Sprinkle nuts over batter & press in lightly.

    Bake . Cut into diamonds while warm.

    One of my Mom’s classics from the 50s! It’s a beautiful cookie with the diamond cut. Be careful not to burn.
