The only way to do chili rellenos at home

Ingredients

  • 2 7 ounce cans whole green chilis (ortega)
  • 8 oz monterey jack shredded
  • 8 oz cheddar shredded
  • 2 lg eggs beaten lightly
  • 3 tbso A P flour
  • 1 c whole milk
  • 8 oz tomato sauce

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray an 8x8-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Lay half of the chilies evenly in bottom of baking dish. Sprinkle with half of the Jack and Cheddar cheeses, and cover with remaining chilies. In a bowl, mix together the eggs, milk, and flour, and pour over the top of the chilies.

    Bake in the preheated oven for . Remove from oven, pour tomato sauce evenly over the top, and continue baking another . Sprinkle with remaining Jack and Cheddar cheeses, five minutes more in the oven and serve.
