Baked Ziti with Sausage and Peppers
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon EVOO
- 1 pound Italian sausage (removed from its casing)
- 2 onions (minced)
- 1 green bell pepper (stemmed, seeded, and cut into ½ inch pieces)
- 1 red bell pepper (stemmed, seeded and cut into ½ inch pieces)
- 4 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh oregano (1 teaspoon dried)
- 1 can crushed tomatoes (28 ounces)
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces ziti (2 ½ cups)
- 1 can tomato sauce (15 ounces)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 ounces)
