Almakrém Joghurttal (Applesauce With Yogurt)

I have no idea when Mother cut this recipe out of a Hungarian language periodical except that it would have to have been no earlier than 1957 & would have been in the USA. This was one of the dishes submitted to a "Race for the Golden Spoon," a cooking contest for area restaurants sponsored by the Central Catering Co. in Hungary. I've tried to make the recipe translation as accurate as possible.

Ingredients

  • 1 apple (peeled & chopped)
  • 1 lemon
  • vanilla sugar (powdered sugar in which a vanilla bean has been buried for some time)
  • yogurt (plain)
  • nuts (Optional)
  • lady fingers (Optional)

Instructions

Keep screen awake
  • 1
    Peel lemon, remove seeds, & chop, saving juice.

    Put apple, lemon with juice, powdered sugar, & yogurt in blender & blend till smooth.
  • 3
    Chill before serving. If desired, serve topped with nuts or lady fingers.
